GE Vernova raises its outlook and agrees to a $9 billion Trench deal
Quarterly revenue rose 27%, while the planned acquisition would expand its high-voltage grid business.
GE Vernova raised its full-year revenue forecast Wednesday and announced an agreement to buy high-voltage grid equipment maker Trench Group for about $9 billion. The planned acquisition is expected to close in late 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.
The company now expects 2026 revenue of $46.5 billion to $47.5 billion, up from $45.5 billion to $46.5 billion. Third-quarter revenue increased 27% to $12.64 billion, while adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization reached $1.94 billion.
Orders reached $29.3 billion and backlog rose to $197 billion. Demand for power and grid equipment is supporting the business as customers invest in electricity infrastructure. Backlog represents work to be delivered over time, not revenue already earned.
The acquisition and the quarterly results are separate parts of the update: one describes a proposed expansion, while the other measures the existing business. The higher revenue range is management's forecast, not a completed result, and the Trench agreement is not a closed transaction.
