The Federal Aviation Administration issued its certification for Boeing's 737 MAX 10 on Tuesday, October 20, clearing the largest member of the 737 MAX family to be built and delivered to airlines. The agency issued an amended type certificate and an updated production record, which authorizes production.

The FAA said it required the jet to include improvements tied to the Aircraft Certification, Safety, and Accountability Act and to National Transportation Safety Board recommendations, including flight-control system updates with an enhanced angle-of-attack sensor. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy called it "a major win for American manufacturing." Boeing said the MAX 10 makes up more than 30% of the 737 MAX program's current order book.

For investors, the approval removes a long-running regulatory question for Boeing's single-aisle lineup. Airlines are also weighing fuel costs; see our story on Brent crude near $110.
