U.S. futures trade mixed as the Fed meeting begins
Monday's AI rebound gives way to a quieter futures session ahead of earnings and economic data.
U.S. stock-index futures were mixed early Tuesday, with S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 contracts lower while Dow futures held near or above the flatline. Traders were looking ahead to corporate earnings and the start of the Federal Reserve's two-day policy meeting.
The pause followed Monday's rebound, when the S&P 500 gained 0.7%, the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.8% and the Dow added about 0.3%. AI-linked shares helped lead that advance after Anthropic's IPO filing. Read Monday's Dusk Ledger for the close.
Coca-Cola, Boeing and Robinhood are among the companies due to report Tuesday. The Fed's decision follows Wednesday; investors are watching both the rate decision and the signal about what comes next. Our week-ahead preview covers the broader earnings and policy calendar.
Tuesday's scheduled U.S. data include durable-goods orders at 8:30 AM ET, followed by consumer confidence and new-home sales at 10 AM ET. Those releases are still ahead of this edition, not results already available to the market.
