Trump signals possible new Iran strikes as oil markets stay on edge
The president said the U.S. “may do it a little bit further,” while his UN ambassador said the blockade of Iranian ports could last indefinitely.
President Trump said the United States “may do it a little bit further” in its military campaign against Iran, and he is considering reviving strikes for several days after the November midterm elections, according to reports.
Separately, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, told the Financial Times that the United States is prepared for a prolonged confrontation and can maintain its blockade on Iranian ports “for the foreseeable future.”
The comments kept oil markets on edge. Crude prices are at their highest since May, and the Strait of Hormuz remains a flashpoint after reported tanker damage earlier this week.
